About SBN
The Spanish Béisbol Network (SBN) is a multi-layered sports marketing and media company for Latino-focused baseball content. Currently, SBN is the exclusive Spanish-language radio broadcaster of the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the Caribbean World Series. In addition, SBN has an affiliate alliance with the New York Yankees as well as supports other MLB teams in their Hispanic sales initiatives. SBN now reaches over 22 million Hispanics with its roster of MLB team markets. SBN provides live broadcasts of home and away games through a network of radio partnerships. Plus, SBN provides the Game day audio for mlb.com and Spanish language game day audio for mlb.com and XM Radio, and SAP-TV in some markets. A goal of SBN’s is to reach the growing, loyal Hispanic fan base, providing them with rich baseball content through the broadcasts and its website, www.beisbol.net. For corporate partners and community sponsors, SBN provides a marketing platform for connecting to the Latino consumers, serving as a turnkey sports marketing agency for the execution of integrated experiential and retail promotions, events, grassroots programs and PR initiatives.
SBN was founded in 2001 by Bill Kulik. President of SBN, Kulik also serves as the on-air talent on occasion in Philly and Boston where loyal fans have nicknamed Kulik “El Gringo Malo” and “The Professor” due to his assertive commentary style. In 2009, Sergio del Prado joined the SBN team as Vice President of Sales. For more information about SBN business and profile of the principals, please see the SBN Profile presentation.
In 2008, SBN was acquired by Celeritas Management, Inc. (www.celeritasmgmt.com), a portfolio management and operating company, based in Virginia. Celeritas partners with companies at the intersection of sports, entertainment, lifestyle pursuits, and marketing services whose products and services strike a chord with the passions of American consumers, especially the Hispanic demographic. Just as fans are passionate about and committed to their favorite team or artist, the Celeritas is passionate about and committed to helping create value for its portfolio companies. Celeritas, therefore, looks to invest with business owners and entrepreneurs who demonstrate this same level of excitement about, and dedication to, their products or services. Celeritas recognizes the strength and diversity of the growing Hispanic presence in America: As a younger population with ever-increasing affluence – and visibility – Hispanics have become highly sought consumers and a powerful financial force. Celeritas also respects the Latino community’s well-documented passion for and commitment to life and family. The combination yields the focus of Celeritas’ investment in Hispanic-focused sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and marketing ventures as a key acquisition strategy.
Celeritas seeks to add companies to its portfolio that strengthen the sports, entertainment, and lifestyle choices for this key demographic, whose growth is already redefining the American culture and landscape. Funded by Palladium Equity Partners (www.palladiumequity.com), Celeritas builds, acquires, and operates complementary businesses in the sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and marketing services industries. Through operational collaboration and oversight, strategic input, corporate resource support, and capital investment, Celeritas helps position companies for growth and success. The Celeritas’ portfolio currently includes ANC Sports Enterprises and the Spanish Béisbol Network. ANC Sports (www.ancsports.com) is the industry leader in team and venue services, providing integrated signage, design, and marketing solutions for sports and commercial facilities. In September 2009, Sara Loarte joined Celeritas Management as a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer to serve as interim general manager of SBN and lead the expansion of Celeritas Management’s and SBN’s integrated Hispanic sports marketing products and services.
